Still, everyone prefers to win…so you need a good QB. Or, a seviceable one, if your top fantasy QB is off this week….and many top QBs are off on Week Eight.
This development means that some QBs who may not normally see regular action on fantasy teams are getting their shot at starting this week. Others, like Texas A&M QB Jerrod Johnson, become one of the best plays of the week.
NOTE: A lot of top fantasy QBs will be off this week. Check the end of this article for a list of those who will not be in action this week.
BEST PLAY THIS WEEK
Jerrod Johnson – Texas A&M (at Kansas): Although his Aggies tanked vs Missouri last week, the trip to Lawrence is a must-win for Johnson and TAMU if they want a bowl-bid. Kansas is not very good this year, but, should keep this one competitive…which is a good sign for anyone who has Johnson on their fantasy team.
OTHER PLAYS THIS WEEK
Terrelle Pryor – Ohio State (vs Purdue): He struggled at Wisconsin last week, but Pryor should return to stature with the Boilermakers coming to The Shoe.
Landry Jones – Oklahoma AND Blaine Gabbert – Missouri: Sooners #1 in the first BCS Poll, and Mizzou (with a win) can make a claim for a championship game berth. Possibly the best college football game this week, and, both QBs should produce.
Andrew Luck – Stanford (vs Washington State): Probably will not see more than three quarters of action, but that should be enough for Luck vs the hapless Cougars….who are weaker than the Cougars from Sex And The City 2.
Ryan Lindley – San Diego State (at New Mexico): As long as he does not hand off to Ronnie Hillman 50 times, Lindley should post big numbers on a sorry Lobos squad….so sorry that there are no Lobos in Sex And The City 2.
Bryant Moniz – Hawaii AND Diondre Borel – Utah State: With the more marquee WAC QBs off this week, these two should be in total shoot-out mode in Logan, UT. It’s Moniz’s arm vs Borel’s legs and arm.
Ryan Aplin – Arkansas State (vs Florida Atlantic): If you are able to pick up a QB this week….Aplin is a nice pick. He had a nice game in a near-win at Indiana last week, and the Red Wolves QB has had a few games where he has put up some good numbers.
OTHER QBs TO PLAY: Jordan Wynn – Utah; Dwight Dasher – Middle Tennessee; Robert Griffin – Baylor; Tyrod Taylor- Virginia Tech; Taylor Martinez – Nebraska; Darrin Thomas – Oregon
MAYBE NOT THIS WEEK
Cameron Newton – Auburn (vs LSU): A surprise selection here, but, LSU does play some decent defense at times, and may be able to contain Newton enough to prevent a big stat day from him.
Brandon Weeden – Oklahoma State (vs Nebraska): Although Nebraska lost last week, it was their offense that tanked against Texas. Weeden has not faced a defense as good as Nebraska’s this season.
Andy Dalton – TCU (vs Air Force): Air Force option keeps opponents offenses off the field, which will limit Dalton’s production this week.
OFF THIS WEEK: Russell Wilson – NC State; Christian Ponder – Florida State; Denard Robinson – Michigan; Colin Kaepernick -Nevada; GJ Kinne – Tulsa; Trent Steelman – Army; Austin Davis – Southern Miss; Ryan Katz Oregon State; Kellen Moore – Boise State (Moore plays Tuesday October 26 at Louisiana Tech)
Ryan Mallett – Arkansas: Suffered a concussion vs Auburn last week…not sure if he will play this week. Check FCB, and various sources, for updates.
Nick Foles – Arizona: Injured right knee vs Washington State last week…will be out at least a few weeks (possibly longer, as they had to pop his knee back in place while being treated on the field).
