After the Fantasy College Football Invitational (FCFI) Expert League Draft and my first foray in a 10-team, 29-round monstrosity run by superfan Neil Young, some adjustments heading into your draft weekend.
Quick Notes: Lots of value at QB, Damarlo Belcher is no longer a value WR and Auburn finally named a starter.
Everybody jump! more notes if you
Stream of consciousness notes:
Cal RB Isi Sofele was not even drafted in the monster draft, and his ADP is FAR below where Cal RBs tend to finish the season. I admit my Evan Williams fueled draft lost track a couple times but this is embarrassing. Worst case, Cal has supported two productive RBs in the past and the inexperienced group still looks to settle out roles per veteran RB coach Ron Gould. Sofele looks like a great RB3.
Indiana WR Damarlo Belcher came off the board near WR 25 in both drafts. My only concern is the QB spot, but the world feels good about the Coach Kevin Wilson plan.
Former top WR recruits (PS1?) Marvin Jones of Cal and Marlon Brown at Georgia have “yet to sign with a team” in either draft. Both are juniors now and demand to be on your watchlist.
Auburn named Barrett Trotter starting QB yesterday – if Gus Malzahn made Casey Dick and Chris Todd productive, you cannot let Trotter fall past QB30.
The world embraces Ryan Aplin as the Arkansas State starting QB even if Hugh Freeze has yet to commit to Aplin over Ryan Butterfield. The early drafter smell Coachspeak.
Speaking of QB, I highlighted the QB22-QB28 in green because these guys have been drafted far below my rankings. Conversely, Taylor McHargue is getting picked ahead of Alex Carder with whom I am on record for calling 40-50 TD this season in our preseason podcast. 2011 looks like another year where you can get a great QB1 in Round 8.
